Though they've been spotted making out and clubbing, Laguna Beach alumni Lauren Conrad insists she and her ex Stephen Colletti are not back on.
"We're just friends," Conrad told Usmagazine.com at the grand opening of the Hawaiian Tropic Zone at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday.
The duo were spotted getting cozy at the L.A. Kings versus Anaheim Ducks hockey game in L.A. Thursday night, but Conrad said, "I was there with a big group of friends. I'm dating but no specifc person."
The unattached Conrad told Us she's undecided on Valentine's Day plans. "Will you be my Valentine?" she asked fellow single Hills costar Audrina Patridge at the opening.
"I think every single girl dreads Valentine's Day. We'll probably make it fun and come out to Vegas."
Conrad has also moved on from her internship at Teen Vogue. She told Us, "I actually just got a new job but can't talk about it right now. I'm really excited about it."

“She is in the building and will be brought in when the case is called,” the Court's public information officer says. “All lawyers for both parties are inside."
Federline was wearing a light gray suit and his hair was in a mohawk.
Spears adviser Sam Lutfi drove the singer in a black Lincoln Navigator from the Beverly Wilshire hotel. Spears' paparazzo beau Adnan Ghalib left separately.
On Monday, Spears spent over two hours at the offices of Kevin Federline's attorney. She left looking upset.
Federline has had sole physical custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James since the singer's hospital trip earlier this month.

I only really saw Heath in the "Patriot" and he was quite good and obviously a talented actor. The sad part moreso is he has a young child. I take a lot of flack for the title of this site and some of my comments about LC, but what should really disturb all of us is the pace of media today, the inaccuracy in reporting, and the reporting itself. If you have followed the death of Mr. Ledger, the talk of drugs which is really no one's business, the inaccuracy that pills were strewn all over the room, and the fact the MEDIA informed Heath's family are all really DISGUSTING.

The reality star, 21 — who is currently shooting the latest season of her MTV hit The Hills — said she never knows how long they'll be on her, either.
"We film till some kind of conclusion happens in our lives," she told Usmagazine.com at the L.A. premiere of Cloverfield last night.
How long does she see herself shooting the show?
"I don’t know," she said. "I’m just having fun with it now.
"We had two weeks off during Christmas, and it was really nice to have a break," she added. "But at the same time you miss the crew. The crew members are really good friends of ours so it’s kind of cool to get back into it."
Conrad — who recently left her gig at Teen Vogue — also spoke out about her upcoming fall fashion show.
She said shooting the eight "bonus" episodes of The Hills inspired her the most.
"Paris was the inspiration for the show — the whole Parisian theme," she said.
Filming, planning fashion shows .... does she ever get overwhelmed?
"A little bit," she admitted. "I have a lot on my plate right now, but I’m having fun with it. I like being busy."

It was a typical Heidi–Spencer moment as the duo spent Jan. 9 in Los Cabos, Mexico, holding hands and frolicking in front of the cameras. But this wasn’t a trip to scout out wedding spots — or even a sign that their wedding is back on.

n fact, the Hills couple’s engagement and nuptials are still on hold, and their Mexican sojourn didn’t exactly end well. “I’ve been throwing up all night,” Heidi said once she was back in LA. “I just got back from Mexico. I don’t know what I have; I don’t know if it’s food poisoning. I’m just so sick.”

But insiders wonder if it was a stomach bug — or if Heidi’s sickness was really caused by stress over ongoing relationship drama with Spencer. “The wedding planning really broke up the engagement,” an insider says. “Heidi isn’t convinced Spencer understands the meaning of a lifelong commitment.”

Calling off her big day

And while the two are still committed to each other, another insider says, “If Spencer wants to get things back on the marriage track, he’s definitely going to have to work on his issues.” Perhaps he’s already gotten the memo: “I’m being a good boyfriend,” Spencer insists.

Planning to be a team

But is he really being good enough to win back Heidi’s hand in marriage? “I need to learn to compromise more and listen to what she wants,” Spencer, 24, says. Easier said than done. “He’s got huge issues with control,” says the second insider. “He always needs to be the one calling the shots.”

Those controlling tendencies came out when Spencer refused to understand Heidi’s desire for a big, traditional fairy-tale wedding. Now “Heidi just can’t see herself walking down the aisle with him until he gets it together,” says the first insider.

Taking responsibility

Heidi also wants Spencer to take her future seriously. She hopes to become a music star, but she knows it won’t be easy. “Both she and Spencer are going to have to put everything they have into her career if it’s going to work,” says the second insider.

But that’s tough when Heidi is forced to be both the breadwinner and the homemaker. “Spencer never had to clean up after himself before, so Heidi’s the one left with all the domestic duties,” the first insider says, adding, “Heidi says, ‘The only way I’ll marry Spencer is if he starts acting like a man instead of a little boy. I feel like I’m dating a preschooler sometimes — it’s always playtime with him.’”

Overhauling his image

But Spencer doesn’t want (and need) to become more sensitive in only Heidi’s eyes. “He’s fed up with being known as the bad guy,” says the second insider. “He’s trying to turn his reputation around.” In fact, Spencer says when filming of The Hills wraps, he and Heidi “will be going to Africa with the United Nations.”

As for his attitude about things closer to home? “Spencer wants to make peace with former pals Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner,” says the insider. Sounds nice — but will it work? “I’m really making an effort to change,” Spencer says. And despite his reputation as a smooth talker, this time he actually sounds sincere.

Drug-resistant staph found to be passed in gay sex

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A drug-resistant strain of potentially deadly bacteria has moved beyond the borders of U.S. hospitals and is being transmitted among gay men during sex, researchers said on Monday.
They said methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, is beginning to appear outside hospitals in San Francisco, Boston, New York and Los Angeles.
Sexually active gay men in San Francisco are 13 times more likely to be infected than their heterosexual neighbors, the researchers reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
"Once this reaches the general population, it will be truly unstoppable," said Binh Diep, a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco who led the study. "That's why we're trying to spread the message of prevention."
According to chemical analyses, bacteria are spreading among the gay communities of San Francisco and Boston, the researchers said.
"We think that it's spread through sexual activity," Diep said.
This superbug can cause life-threatening and disfiguring infections and can often only be treated with expensive, intravenous antibiotics.
It killed about 19,000 Americans in 2005, most of them in hospitals, according to a report published in October in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
About 30 percent of all people carry ordinary staph chronically. It can be passed by touching other people or by depositing the bacteria on surfaces or objects.
The bacteria can cause deep-tissue infections if they enter the body through a wound in the skin.
Of those people who carry staph, most carry it in their noses but community-based MRSA also can live in and around the anus and is passed between sexual partners.
Incidence of MRSA is rising along with the resurgence of syphilis, rectal gonorrhea, and new HIV infections partly because of changes in beliefs about the severity of HIV and an increase in risky behaviors, such as illicit drug use and having sex that abrades the skin, Diep's team wrote.
"Your likelihood of contracting each of these diseases increases with the number of sexual partners that you have," Diep said. "The same can probably be said for MRSA."
Staph infections often look like raised red dots on the skin. Left untreated, the areas can swell and fill with pus.
The best way to avoid infection is by washing the hands or genitals with soap and water, Diep said.

Change is in the air on The Hills! They've just started filming again for the show's fourth season. So, when I ran into Lauren Conrad at the Jimmy Choo flagship store opening in Beverly Hills, I got all the latest scoop on your favorite faux-reality show.First off, L.C.'s lookin' for a new job. "There’s a couple places that I have to go apply and deal with all that," Lauren said of her post-Teen Vogue employment plan. "I’m looking into production companies...I really wanna work backstage at fashion shows.”

But one place she won't be applying is SBE Entertainment Group, where Heidi Montag toils. Lauren's been spotted lookin' chummy lately with SBE head honcho Brent Bolthouse, making people wonder if she's angling for a job at her enemy's stomping ground."I’m not looking at SBE," she told me. "I appreciate their parties, though!" (So does Hollywood Party Girl.)

And now, Lauren will actually be living in the Hollywood Hills, instead of in an apartment by the Grove, like she has for the past three seasons. She reportedly just bought a $2 million dollar, four-bedroom pad off of Sunset. So, who will be in the extra rooms?“We’re still living together," her current roomie Audrina Patridge assured me at the same party. "I’m so excited. The house is beautiful!”

Also joining them in the minimansion will be Lauren Bosworth, aka Lo. Can't wait! She's one of the funnier people on the show, and now, she'll surely get more screen time if she's shacking up with the girls.

Meredith Emerson TRIBUTE

Meredith was hiking in Georgia when she was kidnapped and brutally murdered by Gary Hilton this past week. Her body was recovered Monday evening after Hilton led them to her remains Monday afternoon.

I won't go into the details of the murder as you can find them if you wish just by googling her name.

I heard her distraught boyfriend on the radio this morning in Atlanta and he doesn't want to focus on the details of her murder but the life she led and I will certainly respect his wishes.

According to her boyfriend she loved the Indigo Girls and just loved life in general.

I extend my sincere wishes to her family and friends for their loss. May she rest in peace, she sounds like someone we all would have had the fortune of knowing.

And to our community here, please be diligent and aware of your surroundings at all times and take care to keep your guard up to strangers. By news accounts, she had stopped on the hiking trail to talk to and help the man who later murdered her. I know we all want to try and be good people but in this age of cell phones the best thing you can often do is just call the police if you see someone broken down or if someone asks for help.

Great reality TV villains come in many shapes and sizes. There was Puck, the grimy Real World-er prone to sticking his nicotine-stained digits in other people’s peanut butter. There was Omarosa, Trump’s would-be apprentice, who pissed off everyone in the boardroom—including the combed-over mogul—with her confrontationally bitchy demeanor. And now there’s 21-year-old Heidi Montag, who looks like a St. Pauli girl but has somehow become one of the most talked about and controversial stars on television.

The Hills is a “scripted” reality show. Let’s settle this: How real is it?

The Hills is a show that’s 22 minutes long about seven people’s lives. It’s edited for drama, and there are editors and story lines. If someone walks in front of the camera, we have to redo the shot. So it’s not exactly how things always are. It’s not like The Truman Show. They’re not with us all the time, although I wish they were, because it would be a way crazier show. Let’s see how Lauren would look then!

Meow! So are you and L.C. friends at all?

She’s changed. Some people go more Hollywood than others. We’re from different backgrounds. She grew up in that spoiled Laguna world, and I grew up with humble beginnings. She’s very controlling. But she's already partying like the cast – celebrating her 21st birthday in Las Vegas. The former Laguna Beach star marked the rite of passage at Luxor's LAX nightclub, where danced to Soulja Boy and hung with friends."My first official drink was Grey Goose and soda," she said. "It's really exciting. I can go to the clubs and not worry about anything." Here are my observations from the vid, first, she handles the razzi really well, she smiles, says thank you, second, her outfit is cute, third she plays to the crowd, these are all THINGS LC does not do well. She hides from the cameras, is standoffish and bitchy, and doesn't handle the razzi very well. No wonder MTV is BEGGING Kristin to come back!

I started out my New Year celebration in Las Vegas at LAX with Whitney and Audrina. Then we headed to San Diego to ring in the New Year with friends from home at the Jade Theater. We had a really great time!! I'll be posting a couple of photos soon from my trip so keep an eye out for them in the photo section.

Britney Spears was let go from Cedars Sinai medical center because she no longer posed an imminent threat to herself as perceived by the hospital, PerezHilton.com.
The trainwreck demanded to be released, and Cedars Sinai had no choice but to let her go.
A source tells us, "It is very difficult to keep a patient in a psych ward at a hospital for longer than 24 to 48 hours. Even if you have tried to committ suicide (which Brit did not do) you are released as soon as you are no longer a threat to yourself. It is very very rare for someone to be in the psych ward of a hospital for more than a week or two even after attempting suicide."
Continues our source, "Brit is no different than other mentally ill people. After being admitted and given meds they are released if they are not a suicidal threat to themselves or others."
Spears' father, Jamie, was with Britney the morning of her release.

Britney probably left AMA (against medical advice), we're told.
A source says, "Normally, you have to have a court order or judge ruling to keep someone against their will in the hospital."

One night of kissing in public wasn't enough for Lauren Conrad and Stephen Colletti.
The pair made out at Las Vegas' LAX club on Sunday, Dec. 30, the night after flirting and kissing at Central in LA.

Conrad (wearing a strapless, knee-length silver dress with an oversized bow on the front) arrived at LAX with Hills co-stars Audrina Patridge and Lauren "Lo" Bosworth.

Thirty minutes later, Colletti – Conrad's ex from their days on Laguna Beach – showed up and immediately joined her table.

The duo were inseparable for the rest of the night, touching each other and whispering. At one point, Conrad positioned herself between Colletti's legs and they kissed.

Colletti kept his eye on Conrad when she took pictures with fans or celebrities – especially when she was being photographed with Dave Navarro.
