Lauren Conrad has successfully made the transition from reality TV star to fashion designer but whether her clothing will actually sell remains a mystery.
The Hills star has just announced that her clothing line, the Lauren Conrad Collection, is now available in stores.
"I'm excited to announce that my clothing line, the Lauren Conrad Collection, is now available in stores. My spring line has been shipped out to stores. Last night, I launched my line at Intuition in Los Angeles, and I have to say that it was amazing to see my clothes hanging in a boutique."
And while LC is gets a reported $15-20 thousand per episode of The Hills, it seems she's forgotten that not everyone has money coming out of their rear-ends.
Lauren's designs, while cute in many ways, are very basic and priced as though they're the new Gucci of the fashion industry.
The Whitney DressThe Whitney dress (which is obviously named after her pal) is a basic, unfitted dress with thick spaghetti straps that could be purchased at Target for $10. Conrad is selling the design on her website for a whopping $170.
Most of the tank tops range at about $75 while t-shirts average at around $100.
Maybe Lauren should take a look at Amanda Bynes' clothing line.
Every design in Amanda's line can be purchased for less than $20.
Now that's how you market to the average woman!
Do you think Lauren's prices are outrageous?
Absolutely too expensive. I actually do like a few pieces in her collection, however I will never spend that kind of money on clothes. LOVE Amanda Bynes collection!
ReplyDeleteI like lauren but she has to lower the prices but good for her to have her clothes in a store.
ReplyDeletelauren thinks she's dolce and gabbana
ReplyDeleteYeah her clothes are too expensive, I never had spend over 100 bucks for one clothing
ReplyDeleteIts easy to look really cute on a budget, 70 for a tank? She must have lost her mind.
ReplyDeleteHer clothes look like they should be at Target. They'll be at Ross and Marshall's soon enough.
ReplyDeleteTime will tell but in this economy parents aren't going to give their teen a bunch of money for overpriced pieces. And early twenties just out of college aren't going to spend it either. Its ok stuff, nothing special though.
ReplyDeleteshe is obviously dreaming. you can shop at the bleu online store and get a REAL high end dress (sale) for that kind of price. and her dresses are made of cotton!! like it's so expensive to use cotton as material for your dress! id like to see what heidi has in store for us
