Nick VERREOS reviews the Lauren CONRAD fashion show! He is biased, he is her TEACHER!

Day Three: "The Hills" are Alive with the Sound of Fashion
Lauren Conrad: As many of you may know, I taught Lauren Conrad several quarters ago as well as this last quarter at the FIDM. Weeks ago, in my class, she told me that she was showing at LA Fashion Week and of course, wanted me to attend. As I checked in tonight, I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw that I was given a front-row seat assignment but I quickly realized that my luck was about to change when I saw the madness at the door. Most of the guests had been let in, and yet there were still about 100 people waiting outside, including little old me. They were about to close the doors, until one handsome PR guy recognized me and pulled me through. I had made it in by the whiskers of my beard! Needless to say, my seat was taken and I was led up to an empty seat in the 4th row. All her Hills co-stars were there and thankfully no sighting of Heidi and Spencer.

Lauren Conrad’s much-anticipated collection (co-designed with “Tart” designer Sherry Wood) was surprisingly good. There were lots of great jersey dresses, in all shapes; strapless, one shoulder batwing, kimonos with plunging necklines and shirred silhouettes. She didn’t re-invent the wheel or try to. The dresses were saleable, wearable, and very Lauren. The color palette included olive, plum, and of course, black and white. As the models were sashaying down the runway in these dresses, every woman around kept saying “I like that … and I like that … and oh, I would wear that ….” I am sure that is exactly what Lauren would want to hear.
