Always Remember 9/11.

Here is a fitting tribute.

As a personal note, I was fortunate not to lose any loved ones to the 9/11 attacks. It disturbs me for people to say the 9/11 attacks did not occur, Flight 93 landed in Cleveland, the government was behind it, the planes were not commercial they were military, etc. It really demeans the lives lost. Thousands of people that day lost husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, friends, cousins and to disgrace their memories with doctored videos or initial reactions from onlookers is truly disgraceful.

It is no different than the people that say the Holocaust never happened.

Take a moment today to listen to the tribute, it will take you back to that day and it will most likely draw a tear in your in eye. It is painful to relive and some of you I know come here to get away from the world and politics and endulge in some gossip. Listen, I like to do the same thing. But is important to always remember what happended on 9/11. It's been seven years now and the more time passes the more the tendancy is to just go through our day. I wasn't alive for Pearl Harbor and I will be honest, most December 7th's come and go and sometimes it is days later when I remember Pearl Harbor day.

Take the time to teach your children about 9/11. Tell them your memories, your fears that day, where you were, it's the best perspective they will ever have on that day and its importance. It will be more valuable to them than reading about 9/11 in a cold textbook and in politically correct language.

I still remember that day in vivid detail. I was leaving a meeting and in my car when I first heard a plane had struck one of the wtc's. Originally the news was not sure of the size of the plane even and orignally the did not even know why the building had smoke coming from it. While concerned, I dismissed it as an accident. Minutes later, upon hearing a second plane had struck an additional tower, I knew it was terrorism. My one regret that day is not leaving work and going and following the coverage. Work was not important that day or quite honestly the days and weeks following. I remember worrying that night and going to sleep that night with the most uneasiness I have ever felt. Would there be more attacks? I wondered. Certainly, 9/11 is the most fear I have ever felt for our country. I still to do this day believe if the planes had not been grounded there would have been West Coast attacks. As do I believe the government would have shot down Flight 93 had it not been forced down.

In closing, an election is coming up and a lot of us get caught up in being a democrat or a republican or having selfish reasons for favoring one canidate over another, but first and foremost, we are all americans. Remember that. Thats one of my biggest memories from 9/11 is feeling like an american and being proud of my country.

  2. I wish 9/11 never happened I believe everyone does. It sad makes me angry and sad that so many people died, no remains if I'm not mistaken and the families are left to grieve.

  4. The sad thing is there are people around the world who celebrate 9/11 as a victory for their extremeist and misguided beliefs. It is sad there people among us even here in america who wish only hate on our country.

  5. 9/11 was tragic so I do not in any way want to sound like I'm making light of that day in any way...But I can't help but also think on 9/11 what has happened because of it. 2,948 innocent men, women and children lost their lives that day and then our glorious president led us into a war that has caused another 4,155 deaths and counting of our own brothers and sisters, has cost us $554 BILLION and not to mention the innocent civilian lives that have been taken from Iraq and really for what? Bring our damn troops home and let them figure out their own affairs, we have problems in our own home that need to be addressed, I think it's time to focus on our own needs and not everyone elses. Feed our hungry, house our people, provide health care for our sick and dying that cannot afford to do so for themselves. And have Angelina and Brad adopt children from THIS country, I mean hell at least that population would go down as many as they plan to adopt. Us generation X folks need to get more envolved and help provoke change, we need to think about our children and if you don't have children yet...you should still start thinking about what is ahead for the future.

  6. The military is a job, those that join should know full well the dangers by taking such a nobel job. The undertaking in Iraq though extremely costly in both dollars and lives removed a brutal dictator and his given a nation a shot at democaracy and freedom. So too hopefully has the US created an additional ally in that volatile region. The legacy in Iraq will not be fully known for years. As far housing the homeless and feeding the hungry? Why are they homeless or hungry? Choices they made. Dropped out of school, got caught up in drugs, what? Why should I pay for them? Healthcare is not unafforadable. Unfortuantly people choose and the key word is choose to buy a new designer dress or go out drinking or some other frivolous thing rather than purchase health insurance. Its a choice. Why should I pay for them? Government is here to provide a national defense and infrastructure and other key functions. Things like my retirement, my healthcare, are up to me. Programs like social security and medicare should have been abolished long ago. people need to embrace their freedom of choice and quit expecting government to provide their every need. As far as adopting american kids, sure. But it is sad that the main reason kids need to be adopted is because kids are having sex and having more kids. Sex through media and pornography has become all about the pleasure of the act not about an expression of love - its all about guys wanting to fuck as many girls as possible and girls allowing themselves to be misused because of this new sex in the city culture that glamarizes female promiscuity. It is really sad to see many girls in their early twenties with so much baggage because they started having sex at 13 and 14. I agree with you that we better start doing something about future generations of kids but my answer is not a blank check for things people can provide themselves for through good choices in their lives. I look forward to our troops coming home but let's do so in an orderly withdrawl and a steady handover to the iraqi's so our time spent in Iraq is not wasted. By the way Obama is not the answer, I so this as you seem like someone who would vote for obama.

  7. Yes, because the only reason the homeless are homeless and people are starving is because of drugs....Where do you live? Beverly Hills? Do you share the 90210 zip code? Healthcare is affordable? Are you insane? I live in Clarkston, Michigan which is a suburb of Detroit (about 20 miles from the city)and I work for one of the leading Health systems in the country, Healkthcare my friend is VERY costly. We have a friend whose husband lost his job at GM, key word..lost, they are now facing forclosure on their home and their insurance for themselves ad their two kids will run out next month. This was not a choice that was made by this family nor are any of them on drugs, however, they are now looking to receive assistance because they are in need. The poster family of needing assistance, not a single mother with no education that can't keep her legs closed or thats having babies for the sake of getting more from our government, but those are the people YOU and I pay for, not families that find themselves in an unfortunate situation. I think that is where your perspective is coming from, the system that your government supports.

  8. Your friend couldn't figure out the us auto industry has been dying for 40 years? Jesus people are stupid. Insurance can be held for right around a $100 per month hardly unaffordable. If they are losing their home, obviously it was a home they could not afford in the first place. Maybe they should have rented or bought something they could actually afford. If your friend is educated and hard working, he will find another job and regroup. Anyone who is working should constantly be evaluating their industry and threats to that industry. China can and will undercut just about anything american manufactured. That is reality. We may not like it but it is reality.

  9. I don't mean to interject on anyone's conversation, well, actually I do!! Be very careful wishing for government provided healthcare, I suggest anyone who wishes this carefully study Canada and other countries who have nationwide care. Tests that we in the US can get the next day are sometimes weeks and weeks in their system. Imagine your doctor suspecting you have cancer and him suggesting you get an x-ray or an mri or even a blood test and having to wait weeks to get the test and then weeks more to get the results and then weeks more to see your doctor again to chart a course of treatment and then waiting more weeks to get a spot in radiation or chemo? Sound good? Not to me.

  10. ^ Nah it's friendly conversation...everyone should be involed..we all might learn something from each other...I'm thinking all posts make great arguments. Government Healcare like Canda is pretty craptastic. I know a friend of ours mother died waiting for tests and "clearance" to be admitted. Sad stuff. I also agree that people do make chioces however also agree that our economy stinks and people are losing jobs and houses. I would like to know where 7:13 works that they feel they are in such a stable work place and are superior to those that have less than perfect choices, and are they hiring?
