Brian Nichols: Life without Parole or DEATH by LETHAL INJECTION?

Brian Nichols for those that don't know, killed a judge and courtroom reporter in an Atlanta courtroom a few years back and later killed a police officer and later still a DEA agent.

Four people, who never again got to share Christmas with their family.

He also left another police officer with brain damage after striking her repeatedly when he began his courtroom assault.

This leads to the question should he die for his crimes. Currently the jury is 9-3, I believe in favor of the death penalty. It will take all 12 for death. The jury came back about 6 pm tonight and said they were deadlocked and the foreman did not believe anyone would change their mind. The judge asked them to debate for two more hours. I don't believe anyone will change their mind in the final two hours which will likely mean Brian Nichols will get life without parole.

It seems a shame to me that we are giving this man life when he so calously took four lives and ruined and changed many families forever.

The death penalty is very complex made more so by the Holidays and the coming birth of Jesus. I believe though if I sat on that jury anad based on the crime taking place in a courthouse and the lack of remorse Brian Nichols has shown that I would have to say death.
Certainly comment if you have an opinion or are familiar with the case.

One more thing the reason he was in the courtroom originally was he was being tried for rape. Based on people I have spoken with and things I have read, he may very well have been acquitted of the rape charges.

I remember this story he broke into that woman's house held her hostage but suddently he began to feel remorse for what he had done. This is a tough one he is a monster and he deserves to be punished but the death penalty? I don't know I guess its in God's hands.

The three people that didn't vote death said they were against the death penalty but they would keep an open mind. Some of the other jurys said during deliberations they did not deliberate at all that even if he had killed 50 people they still would not have said death. They said one of those clowns actually did crossword puzzles for the four days the deliberated. Disgusting.

The customs agents wife tried to bring a gun in court one day and they found it, they all played it off as an "accident" and she forgot, but I think she would have blown him away. She was the most mad yesterday. I feel really sorry for her and all the families. He does have ZERO remorse.
