Hills chicks respond to Audrina PATRIDGE'S big BREAK!

Our first question upon hearing that Hills third wheel and one-time aspiring Playboy model Audrina Patridge is slated to be the first star from MTV's fake reality show to make the jump to the big screen: What do her backstabbing, undermining friends think? Radar made some calls, and as expected, the girls' answers varied.

The past few weeks, as you know, have been tough on poor Patridge—for her many obvious mental deficits, she's always remained loyal to her friends, so it's gotta be difficult for her to sit back and watch the snot-faced Lo swoop in and take her place as Lauren's favorite roommate. Lauren's irritation with Audrina's sad puppy dog routine has gotten increasingly palpable of late, but she did shed tears when Audrina admitted to her that she feared their friendship was breaking up. Would news that Audrina has been cast as the "no-nonsense, beautiful beach babe whose boyfriend caters to her every command" in Into the Blue 2 further drive a wedge between her and her former BFF? Is life on The Hills really that much of a zero-sum game?
Reached for comment, Lauren Conrad had this to say through her publicist: "I'm so proud of her!! She moved to L.A. to become an actress and it's so exciting to see it really happening to her." The double exclamation point can only mean one thing: Lauren is truly very thrilled for her friend!
Heidi Montag, on the other hand, is maybe not as enthused. When we asked her publicist if either she or Heidi had a response to news of Patridge's good fortune, we were told, "Neither."
Lo, who is probably the one who is most rankled by the news, couldn't be reached for comment, as she isn't famous enough to have a publicist. Though she's certainly making a power play to get more air time next season to fix that.
Some additional confirmed details regarding the movie: It'll star Chris Carmack, better known as hotheaded jock Luke "Welcome to the O.C., bitch" Ward from The O.C. and Smallville's Laura Vandervoort. The two play "a married couple hired as professional divers to search for Columbus' hidden treasure..." until something goes horribly wrong. You'll have to hold your breath (heh) until 2010 to actually see it, though.
