VOGUE talks about LAUREN Conrad's LINE!

FROM MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real O.C. to her recent, wildly successful spin-off show The Hills, Lauren Conrad ('LC') has made a name for herself as a reality superstar, catapulting her blond tresses and innocent good looks into the homes of millions. Now Conrad is trying her luck at the fashion game - a rite of passage for hot young California It-girls.

Conrad's collection is diverse and accessible with a familiar style that resonates with her young fan-base. Plunging V-necks abound, jersey kaftan dresses and a myriad of black eyelet cocktail dresses punctuate the runway, and all things asymmetric and one-shoulder are revisited with flair. The end result is a fluid and full 30-look collection with tailored and girlish French-inspired embellishments.

Above all, Conrad's show is authentic to her own taste. In the public spotlight with her signature Chanel bag in hand, and her infamous thigh-grazing minidresses, one can't help but wonder how her personal style will translate onto the runway. Conrad explains that this fall collection is "her basic look, only dressed up". Styled with bows, driving gloves, and French berets, her otherwise distinctly California cool style did in fact feel dressier, albeit in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. Observing the overcrowded, over-frenzied attendees, one notices that the crowd is not the usual found in the Smashbox Studios (the Los Angeles fashionista hub).

Tonight, a sea of blue-eyed and bushy-tailed OC kids bused in by the dozens fill the room like a gaggle of sweaty teens at a Weezer concert while a slew of well-dressed fashion editors and stylists are turned away at the door. Apparently, this show is the hottest ticket in town.
